Monarch English as a Second Language

MESL

The MESL program is designed to provide a solid foundation in English for newcomers, focusing on practical language skills needed for daily life, social interactions, and workplace communication. This program is essential for those who wish to integrate smoothly into Canadian society.

Program Structure

1. Monarch General English as a Second Language (MGESL)

This route focuses on everyday English skills necessary for daily life and work in Canada. It prepares learners to communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

  • MGESL1 & MGESL2: Focus on theme-based courses to help you adapt to everyday life in Canada, covering essential vocabulary and conversational skills. Students engage in practical scenarios to enhance fluency and confidence.
  • MGESL3 & MGESL4: Emphasize employability skills, preparing you for the Canadian job market. These levels include targeted lessons on workplace communication, networking, and interview techniques.

Weekly Breakdown

Each MGESL level consists of 12-week courses:

  • MGESL1: 12 weeks, 4.6 hours/week
  • MGESL2: 12 weeks, 4.6 hours/week
  • MGESL3: 12 weeks, 4.6 hours/week
  • MGESL4: 12 weeks, 4.6 hours/week
2. Monarch English for Specific & Academic Purposes (MESAP)

This route is designed for learners who wish to improve their English skills for academic or specific professional contexts. It focuses on advanced language skills required for further education and specialized fields.

  • MESAP1: Prepares learners for college and university with a focus on academic language and study strategies. This level emphasizes reading comprehension, academic writing, and critical thinking skills, essential for higher education success.
  • MESAP2: Advanced skills for academic success, including research and writing. Students will refine their abilities to analyze texts, develop arguments, and engage in academic discussions.
